    We all know how inaccurate Unix Bench result is and how it has little to do with "real world performance". However many people are still using this little number at the end of test to determine how good a VPS hosting service is.

    So I guess we might as well run the pissing competition here -- post your Unix Bench result!

    1. Read this WHT post.
    2. Download Unix Benchmark WHT edition 4.1.
    3. Untar, make, Run!
    4. Post (1) your result (2) your /proc/cpuinfo (3) your uname -a (4) your distribution (5) date/time where you run the test

    And don't forget to post about who is your provider, which VPS plan are you using (+ how much you are paying/month). <b>ONLY</b> the cheap low end box should post here, i.e. those VPS under USD$7/month.

    Final Score = 85.2. Not bad for a 64MB Xen VPS on an old single-core Xeon. The IO read is pretty good although the CPU power is a bit lacking.

    Heh. For those who run make and get a "Command not found" back, it's:

    apt-get install make

    I get back a:

    make: gcc: Command not found

    To get around that, run:

    apt-get install gcc

    Which gives me a "please install time" error:

    apt-get install time

    Ain't this fun? :)

    I some one received the following error after 'make':
    "*** [pgms/arithoh] Error 127"

    This can be fixed by installing gcc

    on Debian: apt-get install gcc
    on CentOS: yum install gcc

    @circus I have a 192MB Xen PV vps with Yisp.nl. I get about the same unixbench score. I think performance is reasonable, only disk I/O can be dramatically at some times. Usually I get about 40MB/s read speed,but at busy times it's 10-20MB/s, guess the boxes are a bit oversold.
    But hey, it's cheap and Rens, the owner, is very kind and providing very decent support.
